In 2009 ACME AEROSPACE was acquired by TransDigm; assimilated and integrated into AVIONIC INSTRUMENTS LLC as an energy storage product line. Since the acquisition, the two companies have combined and aligned its resources to provide a complimented technology offering to our Aerospace and Defense partners.

The integration of ACME AEROSPACE offers a strong battery product line with over 50 years of energy storage experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry and fully resourced production facility located in Tempe, Arizona.  The ACME AEROSPACE battery chemistries (both FNC and Lithium) and chargers have been chosen by many OEM’s such as Boeing, Embraer and Eclipse; to name a few. The ACME AEROSPACE technology offers key advantages in reliability and maintenance interval requirements that offer our end customers clear advantages in both the OEM space and aftermarket.

AVIONIC INSTRUMENTS LLC and ACME AEROSPACE are the sole source supplier of major power conversion and control components for Gulfstream Aerospace, Boeing (Commercial and Military groups), Airbus (Military and Commercial groups), Embraer, Bombardier/Learjet Aerospace, Lockheed Martin,L-3 Communications, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Sikorsky Aircraft, Bell Helicopter, and Airbus Helicopter. Both AVIONIC INSTRUMENTS LLC and ACMEAEROSPACE have also supplied many direct military programs for the US Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corp, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

AVIONIC INSTRUMENTS LLC and ACME AEROSPACE have developed a complete offering of commercially available Static Inverters, Frequency Converters, Regulated and Unregulated Transformer Rectifier Units, Light Dimming Controllers, Permanent Magnetic Generator Regulators, Bus Sense and Switch products, Bit Logic Control Relays, Generator Control Units, as well as Ni-Cd & Lithium batteries and battery chargers.

Recent developments have pushed our base technology to include software-based command and control systems in our base inverter and converter designs. Our new designs utilize this standardized DSP designs to employ active power factor correction front ends, selectable output design, multiple unit smart sharing systems, and data bus communication including CAN, and ARINC 429. In addition, this same DSP design approach is being utilized in our Acme Lithium-Ion battery and charger system, which was selected by Sikorsky for their new S-97 Raider Program.
